About Jim Jim is a United States Coast Guard Master Captain, licensed for Great Lakes and Inland Waters with Commercial Towing Assistance Endorsement. Also, Jim is fully insured Charter Boat Captain/Guide and his boat is DNR Inspected. Jim’s fishing passion is light tackle and Fly fishing on Lake St. Clair/St. Clair Flats, St. Clair River and Detroit River.  He also operates out of the Antrim County’s Chain of Lakes, Bellaire, Michigan area which offers premier warm-water fishery coupled with the “Up North Serenity”. Jim is an all around great angler, been tying his own flies for decades, an engineer and excellent guide. Coupling his vast fishing experience with his mild mannered personality, he will provide a very enjoyable and rewarding day on the water. A native Michigander, Jim has forty years of fishing experience fishing on Lake St. Clair/St. Clair Flats, St. Clair River and Detroit River and nearly ten years on Antrim County’s Chain of Lakes, Bellaire, Michigan area. He has a B.S. in Engineering from Lawrence Institute of Technology and began his career as a service engineer Marposs Gauges and continued at Westinghouse as a sales engineer. Jim has been passionately fishing all his life and loves to fly fish as well. He seriously pursues smallmouth & largemouth bass, walleye, pike, perch and trout. Boat Q: What kind of boat is used on True North Captain charters?
